18Dracula is a Dracula themed '18XX' game.

18XX games are (usually train related) games that involve buying shares and running companies to make money. 18Dracula is an 18XX game that involves buying shares in front companies and monsters to acquire blood donations for Dracula.

18Dracula innovates from 1830 in a few key ways:

  1. It uses a node-based instead of a tile-based map
  2. Monsters are a bit more distinct than trains in 1830 - for instance, Werewolves can go to surrounding cities instead of point-to-point.
  3. The associates (replacing privates) offer some more odd abilities over 1830.
  4. A kooky theme.

The goal has been to make a game that may not be as balanced as 1830, but is fun for a few games on Halloween.

It comes with:

  • Both A PDF of the full map, and the map split into A4 pages
  • A PDF of the rule book
  • PDFs of Front Charters
  • PDFs of the Market
  • PDFs of the Monsters Cards
  • PDFs of the Shares
  • PDFs of the Tokens
  • A funky phase chart

The game could do with more playtesting, and is subject to change when something is found to be really broken. Where possible, future versions will give directions to update your copy.

I have been following this for a few years now off and on and curious if you ever will want to revisit it or potentially collaborate with the 18xx community to bring it closer to completion. As a concept I completely love this and really would be desperate to PnP it.

It's been a tough few years (and I theoretically started trying to balance Emu Bay to 'Well, let's make something smaller work given that I don't feel clever enough to do this yet') - but, yeah, I'd be open to it.

I'm sorry that it's progressed so slowly with these giant gaps of nothing happening at all. It makes me kinda sad when I think about it and remember it there.

Thank you for your enthusiasm!

Thanks for your response! No worries man, I understand, life and all it's complexities tends to shadow over the fun weird stuff like hobby gaming. I fully reject your project as unnecessary, you  don't owe me or anyone anything. It's a creative passion project of yours and that's just cool to witness. Shelf of opportunity my friend, it will always be there to pick up one day. Take care of yourself!
